28th International Travelling Summer School on Microwaves and Lightwaves
From July 7 to July 13, 2018, the 28th International Summer School "Microwaves and Lightwaves" took place at the CAS Conference Center Liblice.
The Summer School has a great international reputation with a long tradition, each year is held in another European country. This year's organizer of the event was the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences under the supervision of the coordinator Prof. Josef Lazar.
"The specialization of the school is high-frequency electronics, optics, laser technology and microwave and terahertz technology. It is intended for postgraduate students, especially graduates of electrotechnical faculties of technical universities, microwave and high frequency electronics, and for graduates of natural science faculties, physical electronics, or optics and photonics ".
The school was attended by 65 participants across 10 European countries, mostly Western Europeans. During the first half of the week, participants had 21 lectures. In the second half of the week, individual students presented their work on assigned projects in teams, and the last day was a ceremonial evaluation of their projects.
"This year participated as lecturer Professor Emeritus Hans Ludwig Hartnagel of the Technical University of Darmstadt, an outstanding personality in the field of microwave and terahertz technology, who had an introductory presentation on the opening day of the school. Prof. H. L. Hartnagel is the initiator and founder of the summer school tradition, "adds Lazar.
