18 Jun-15 Jul   Dr. Alejandro Vasquez Arzola (Instituto de Fisica, UNAM, Mexico) visited our group to perform joint experiments with optical vortices

4 Jun     P. Zemanek gave a popularizing talk at the high school in Trebic entitled: "Star Trek in the lab: tractor beam reality" with practical demonstrations of optical micro-manipulations in the classroom.

3 Jun   Our collegue Oto Brzobohaty was awarded by Otto Wichterle Premium. This prize is provided by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic for excellent young scientists. Congratulations Oto !!!!

14-16 Apr     Prof. Simon Hanna spent three days in discussions with us and gave a talk "Optimising forces and torques for optical tweezing".

3-7 Mar     Prof. Marian Antalik shared his experiences with us and gave a talk "Progress in chemical and biochemical methods of nanomaterials manufacturing".

6 Feb     The OMITEC team (namely P. Zemanek, O. Brzobohaty, T. Cizmar, L. Chvatal, P. Jakl, A. Jonas, V. Karasek and L. Chvatal) was awarded for the best results in the category of basic research with the Werner von Siemens Excellence Award 2013. We thank Siemens Czech Republic for their support of research and education!

20 Jan     Our concept of Optical ''tractor'' beam was demonstrated experimentally Nature Photonics and its utilization for optical sorting and self-arrangement was shown. More details can be found here.
