Physicists William W. Hansen ad Felix Bloch discuss their
discoveries in nuclear magnetic resonance, made at Stanford
University around 1936. Both served as consultants for the fledgling
Varian Associates Instrument Division, then staffed largely by former
Stanford graduate students. (from _The Inventor and the Pilot_ by
Dorothy Varian, Pacific Books, Publishers, 1983, pg 254.)
Russell Varian explains nuclear magnetic resonance equipment to his
son George at a Varian Associates open house in 1953. (from _The
Inventor and the Pilot_ by Dorothy Varian, Pacific Books,
